Deflation in August 2025
Price developments for various commodities in August 2025 generally indicated an increase. Based on monitoring by the Wonosobo Regency Statistics Agency (BPS), year-on-year inflation in August 2025 reached 2.35 percent. Meanwhile, month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation in August 2025 was 0.18 percent, and year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation was 1.19 percent.
The year-on-year inflation occurred due to price increases, as indicated by increases in several expenditure group indices: food, beverages, and tobacco by 3.42 percent; clothing and footwear by 0.88 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels by 1.74 percent; household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance by 1.02 percent; The health sector experienced 1.32 percent growth; the transportation sector experienced 1.38 percent growth; the recreation, sports, and culture sector experienced 1.38 percent growth; the education sector experienced 2.78 percent growth; the food and beverage/restaurant sector experienced 0.63 percent growth; and the personal care and other services sector experienced 7.5 percent growth. Meanwhile, year-on-year deflation occurred in the information, communication, and financial services sector, which experienced 0.61 percent growth.
The dominant commodities contributing to y-on-y inflation in August included: gold jewelry, shallots, coconuts, cooking oil, cars, ground coffee, household fuel, ready-made coconut milk, machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM), broiler chicken eggs, hand-made kretek cigarettes (SKT), junior high school, elementary school, motorcycles, tomatoes, garbage disposal fees, green mustard greens, machine-made white cigarettes (SPM), instant dry noodles, white cabbage, recreation, non-foreman workers, maintenance/service, senior high school, toothpaste, bath soap, panic, long beans, eggplant, kale, chayote/jipang, tea, fried chicken, brown sugar, intercity transportation, ready-to-drink coffee, snake fruit, hospital fees, and midwife fees. Meanwhile, the commodities contributing to y-to-y deflation included: cayenne pepper, gasoline, garlic, potatoes, cell phones, broiler chicken, green chilies, oranges, spring onions, spinach, powdered milk, reinforced concrete, and salt.
Meanwhile, the commodities that predominantly contributed to m-to-m inflation in August 2025 included: Hand-Rolled Clove Cigarettes (SKT), Machine-Made Clove Cigarettes (SKM), elementary school, rice, cooking oil, non-foreman workers, broiler chicken, cucumbers, gold jewelry, spring onions, junior high school, wall paint, and high school. Meanwhile, commodities contributing to m-to-m deflation included: cayenne pepper, tomatoes, garlic, green mustard greens, red chilies, broiler chicken eggs, gasoline, long beans, green beans, green chilies, white mustard greens/pecay/pitsai, oranges, eggplant, mobile phones, and white cabbage.
In August 2025, the expenditure groups contributing to year-on-year inflation were: food, beverages, and tobacco (1.21 percent); clothing and footwear (0.05 percent); housing, water, electricity, and household fuels (0.18 percent); Household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance group by 0.05 percent; health group by 0.04 percent; transportation group by 0.19 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.03 percent; education group by 0.13 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.05 percent; and personal care and other services group by 0.45 percent. Meanwhile, the group contributing to deflation was the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.03 percent.
Hotel Room Occupancy Rate in July 2025 Decreased
The hotel room occupancy rate in Wonosobo Regency for July 2025 was recorded at 28.56 percent, a decrease of 3.87 points compared to the June 2025 ROR of 32.43 percent. Meanwhile, compared to the July 2024 ROR of 36.28 percent, the July 2025 ROR decreased by 7.72 points.
Based on hotel classification, the ROR in July 2025 for star-rated hotels was higher than for non-star-rated hotels. The ROR for star-rated hotels in July 2025 was 41.07 percent, while the ROR for non-star-rated hotels was 25.16 percent. The ROR for star-rated hotels increased by 1.66 points compared to June 2025. Meanwhile, the ROR for non-star-rated hotels decreased by 5.37 points compared to June 2025.
The average length of stay for all hotel guests in July 2025 was recorded at 1.08 nights, an increase of 0.02 points compared to the ROR for June 2025 of 1.06 nights. Similarly, compared to the ROR for July 2024 of 1.06 nights, the ROR for July 2025 increased by 0.02 points.
Meanwhile, when viewed by hotel classification, the average length of stay for guests at star-rated hotels is higher than for non-star-rated hotels. The average length of stay for guests at star-rated hotels in July 2025 was 1.23 nights, while the average length of stay for guests at non-star-rated hotels was 1.02 nights.
Incoming and Departing Passengers Increase
The number of arriving passengers using intercity and intercity buses (AKAP) and intercity and intercity buses (AKDP) in Wonosobo Regency in July 2025 was 14,326 passengers, a decrease of 1,131 passengers, or 7.32 percent, compared to 15,457 passengers in June 2025.
The number of departing passengers using intercity and intercity buses (AKDP) in Wonosobo Regency in July 2025 was 23,322 passengers, a decrease of 2,008 passengers, or 7.93 percent, compared to 25,330 passengers in June 2025.
